BELFAST DSS

Championship show Sept 2007

LHASA APSOS:

Although a relatively small entry for our breed, as is to be expected at this show, there was sufficient depth of quality in some of the classes. Type varied tremendously, and some exhibits were far too heavily boned (not to be confused with the word ‘sturdy’ used in our Standard). There were several poor front assemblies in otherwise good exhibits.

PD (3,1a): Two raw youngsters.

1 McGookin’s Chochsan Bailes Cream, gold, won on his overall balance and movement, typical head, good pigment and underjaw, dark eyes, still needs to mature and knit in body, well presented;

2 Kemps’ Truern Lets Dance at Zaylon, gold sable, pleasing head of correct proportions, good pigment and dark eye, well developed forechest for age, well bodied, longer in loin than 1, moving a little close behind, good coat texture and presentation.

JD (1):

1 Matthews’ Tasarnia Enigma, rich gold, standing alone but thoroughly deserved this place, the most stunning outline and balance, spot on for size, pleasing head, moderately narrow skull, lovely dark eye, good pigment, nicely arched neck, well bodied, firm topline, lovely tailset and carriage, excellent coat texture and presentation, moved freely with purpose.

PGD (1):

1 Cathcart’s Pantulf Cousteau Sun N Air at Cathderry, gold, different head and skull shape, good pigment, well balanced but lacking body, level topline, unable to assess movement as he was having a very Lhasary day.

LD (7,1):

1 Paradises’ Shardlow Pilot Of The Future, handsome, masculine cream sable, won this good class with his beautiful head, overall balance and sound movement, ideal head proportions, good dentition, blackest of pigment, darkest of eyes, nicely arched neck, firm level topline, high set tail, very sound and correct hind movement, still needs to mature in body and finish in coat;

 2 Watsons’ Lynruce Prime Suspect JW ShCM, gold, another quality dog not yet at his best, typical head, moderately narrow skull, good bite, soundly made, well balanced, firm level topline, not coping with the floor as well as 1, moved soundly when settled;

3 Brown’s Chethang Kesario, cream, an attractive masculine young dog, pleasing head of correct proportions, lovely soft expression, good pigment, dark eyes, nicely arched neck, well balanced body, level topline, good tail set and carriage, moved typically when settled, well presented.

OD (4):

1 Scarll’s Ch Timazinti Motoro JW, mature typy gold dog of ideal size, pleasing head, correct moderately narrow skull, lovely dark eyes, strong well arched neck fitting snugly into shoulders, plenty of forechest, well ribbed back, just the right body, firm topline, super coat texture, free jaunty movement when settled. Has matured into the champion he is since I last judged when he won PGD, pleased to award him the DCC;

2 Totton’s Ir Ch Nemmi Shine On Me at Fabiana, g/w parti, very beautiful young dog of ideal size and balance, the most gorgeous head of correct proportions, loved his expression, super dark eyes, excellent pigment, well developed forechest for age, lovely arched neck, so well balanced in body, firm topline, good tail set and carriage, kept his lovely outline both standing and on the move, beautiful coat immaculately presented, plenty of verve on the move resulting in a little too much overdrive but could not deny him the RDCC;

3 Matthews’ Ir Ch Saxonsprings Orinoco at Tasarnia, gold, larger dog with a heavier frame, pleasing type, liked his head and expression, typical outline standing, firm body, just dropping his head forward on the move, correct hind action, well presented.

MPB: (3,1): Two promising babies of different types.

1 Lloyd and Totton’s Owenavera Charlie’s Angel, pretty g/w parti, lovely head and expression, darkest of eyes, excellent bite and dentition, pleasing size and balance, soundly made, firm level topline, well angulated quarters, moved freely keeping a balanced outline;

2 Watsons’ Lynruce The Black Pearl, quality black, slightly longer balance than 1 but well within the Standard, typical head of correct proportions, well made all through, firm body well ribbed back, level topline, coat well presented, moved very freely and without exaggeration.

PB (4):

1 Stanley and Keenan’s Heneva Looking At You, mature 11 months shaded gold, aptly named young lady who caught my eye as she entered the ring for her pure type, quality and balance, feminine head of correct proportions, arrogant expression, darkest of pigment and eyes, such a pleasing well balanced outline both standing and on the move, nicely arch neck, soundly made, firm level topline, good tail set and carriage, super straight coat beautifully presented, moved soundly round the ring like she owned it. Just needs to mature to complete the picture. Pleased to award her the RBCC and BP, and delighted to see her go on to PG3;

2 Scarll’s Timazinti Daniella, gold, I see she is by the DCC winner, she shares many of his lovely attributes in a feminine package, gorgeous head of correct proportions, cheeky expression, darkest pigment and eyes, so soundly made both fore and aft, still needs to mature and develop in body, a little more leg will complete the picture, lovely sound jaunty movement with plenty of verve, will watch her development;

3 Hadwin’s Mytilene Madagascar, dark grey, larger but not over-boned old fashioned bitch who won this place with her sound construction and very typical movement, could just see her residing in the rocky terrain of her country of origin.

 JB (3): 1 and 2 of correct size but heavier boned.

 1 Scott’s Tasarnia Amelia at Mistydown, gold, feminine head, dark eye, a little heavy in forequarters and short in upperarm, well bodied, firm loin, good tail set, not quite balanced on the move lacking forward reach and over compensating in hind movement;

 2 Hughes’ Mitchella Elova Entrance, gold, typical head and expression although broader in skull than ideal, good pigment, dark eye, shorter neck and longer cast than 1, movement ok;

3 M Madagascar.

PGB (4):

1 Paradises’ Shardlow Rose Petals Fall over Cedarpoint JW ShCM, gold, won BP under me last time, has continued to develop into a sturdy yet feminine lady, lovely head and expression, good pigment, darkest of eyes, ideal moderately narrow skull, strong well arched neck, firm level topline, very well bodied, super tail set and carriage, coat still needs to finish but of correct texture, moved freely and jauntily on firm feet;

 2 M Elova Entrance;

3 Hughes’ Teah Mharia of Mitchella, heavier set all through, longer cast than 2, movement ok.

 LB (6,1):

1 Lloyd’s Owenavera Glitz N Gossip, feminine, well balanced, glamorous white/grey who looks right from every angle, refined head, narrow skull, good fallaway, darkest of eyes and pigment, so well made fore and aft, lovely head carriage both standing and on the move, just the right amount of neck, spirit level topline, ideal tail set and carriage, moved freely and soundly with equal front and back extension without a hint of exaggeration, lovely straight coat well presented. BCC and BOB, and pleased to see her shortlisted in the strong group;

2 Owenavera Miss Tique from Fabiana, beautiful gold lady, loved her type and overall balance, pretty head of correct proportions, lovely expression, not quite the front assembly of 1 which showed in outline on the move, firm topline, moved soundly, excellent presentation;

3 Cathcart’s Saxonsprings Crystal at Cathderry, gold, sister to PGD winner and of similar type and balance, pleasing outline, level topline, good tail set, moved soundly and typically, needs more body, good coat texture.

OB (4) Quality class of mixed types.

1 Crummey’s Deelayne Madness Divine at Nickanda JW, red/gold, pleasing type, slightly different balance to my ticket winners, and a little more bone, typical head and expression, plenty of underjaw, well made fore and aft, strong well arched neck, firm topline, well bodied, firm loin, good tail set and carriage, moved typically with correct hind action, not quite the front action in the final run off, well presented;

2 Lloyd’s Ir Ch Owenavera Eye Candy, very glamorous, feminine g/w, lovely head and expression, dark eyes, good head carriage, well made forequarters, good forechest, level topline but not as firm in loin, good tail set, moved with plenty of verve, too much overdrive in hindquarters, beautifully presented over glamorous coat perhaps detracts from the overall picture;

3 Paradises’ Shardlow Ragtaggle Gypsy JW, standing this fully mature grey bitch excels in type, outline and balance, typical head and expression, soundly made, firm level topline, correct tail set and carriage, correct coat texture well presented, moved soundly but not with the freedom or extension I was looking for.
